Flash Poetry

savannah

i misplaced

my love

for you

tucked it

into

my pocket

like

a

forgotten moment

and still

your eloquence

pierces

my soul

as i cease

immaculate

on

any corner

of your

gridded

veins

even distant voices

become

tomb dust whispers

is it the bodies

sleeping

beneath

your

streets and squares

or

the

demon oaks

refusing

the

burdened

branches

of scars

no

your squares

bequeath sojourns

into

a

miraculous night

you jest

about your

nathanial

poisoning

your

spanish moss

yet

oaks bloom naked

over his crypt

your red doors

and red lights

lambaste

your ghosts

but they abscond

through

velvet shadows

tapping me on the shoulder

or leaving welts on my skin

you

ancient southern city

you

hypnotize me

again

thinking

you

could fool me

into the

sublime texture

of

your shrouds

no

love is restless

in my bones

as

i jettison

the remnants

of forlorn soot

and

once again

embrace

your

breathing sidewalks

my ghosts

sleep

with yours

and

yours

are

outnumbered
